The Lecture is:

Recent Advances in Reconfigurable A/D Converters

Abstract:

The Reconfigurable/Multi-mode Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) can adapt to different tasks by adjusting performance, and it is a key technology for the future of communication and sensing fields. However, the prior reconfigurable ADCs still face two significant limitations: the inferior performance compared to their single-mode counterparts, and the exclusive operation between different modes. Due to these two limitations, most existing reconfigurable ADCs failed to offer virtual performance and cost advantages over deploying multiple single-mode ADCs, thereby hindering their application and promotion. In this talk, we first reviews the pros and cons of some typical existing reconfigurable ADCs, and then introduced a new ADC architecture named Reconfigurable Interleaving Synergic Converter Array (RISCA) to tackle those challenges, which establishes a new ADC category – Programmable Converter Array. A prototype converter array that can be configured as over 20 modes is demonstrated, covering a wide SNDR range from 30dB to over 80dB, a bandwidth range from sub-MHz to 1000MHz, and supporting over two concurrent tasks.

Biography:

Prof. LU Jie received the B.Eng. degree from the Zhejiang University, China, in 2017, and received Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan, US, in 2021. Since then, he is currently with Tsinghua University, China, as an Assistant Professor. His main research interest is mixed-signal integrated circuit design, including hybrid-architecture ADCs, reconfigurable mixed-signal circuits, and mixed-signal computation. He currently serves as the TPC member of ASSCC, and the reviewer for JSSC, TCAS-I, TCAS-II and EL.
