Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the State Council issued the “General Plan for the Construction of Guangdong-Macao in-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin”, which proposes to vigorously develop integrated circuits and electronic components, and accelerate the construction of a microelectronics industry chain featuring chip design, testing and inspection. Prof. Pui-In Mak, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI, University of Macau, said in a joint interview with Guangdong and Macao media that the the Guangdong-Macao in-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin will be developed into a chip production and research platform for cooperation between scientific research and enterprises, which can help Macao to build a more stable and diversified economy. This is a more effective economic model than relying solely on foreign exchange reserves, and is more likely to stabilize the economy and people’s livelihood.
