Brain-Inspired Chips & Systems: Challenges and Opportunities
Abstract:
Recent years, advancements in generative AI models have inspired us enormous potential and feasibility of artificial general intelligence (AGI). Brain-inspired intelligence is considered an ideal approach to achieving AGI, as it shall be more efficiently and universally. However, because of limited knowledge about the working principles of the human brain, reverse-engineering human brain and achieving brain-like functionality remains difficult challenge. In this lecture we will talk about opportunities and challenges of brain-inspired chips and systems, and explores a new method for rapidly realizing the whole brain computing system by combining both biomimetic and learning approaches, discuss about a brain-inspired machine implementation method based on cortical area network. We will also discuss about related engineering and technical issues, including hierarchical scalable models, brain-inspired computing wafer design, heat dissipation and power distribution management of the brain-inspired wafers etc.
