The Lecture is:

Optouidics: Manipulating Light using Liquid Media at Microscale

Abstract:

Optofluidics synergizes optics/photonics and microfluidics to leverage the specific advantages of both disciplines. Optofluidics brings in many benefits to micro/nano optics and photonics. First, microflows can make very good waveguides, with optically smooth interface. Second, the flows can carry the analytes and the optically active materials (e.g., dyes). Third, the refractive index can be adjusted over a large range (up to Dn ~ 1). Lastly, miscible flows can create a complicated refractive index gradient, which can be adjusted in real time. This talk will explain the key points of optofluidics and then will talk some notable applications of optofluidics. Finally, further chances of optofluidics for micro/nano optics and photonics will be discussed.
